Downtown Boys keep welding punk fury to bilingual protest here, but "Public Luxury" argues that the commons — parks, buses, clean air, a body that can breathe — is itself worth screaming for.
The title works as a thesis: "Public Works" and the closing "Public Luxury" treat shared infrastructure as something sacred and endangered, sax honking over guitars that never apologize. "Albuterol" turns an asthma inhaler into a class complaint, the private cost of surviving air everyone should share. Victoria Ruiz still sings in two languages without translating for anyone's comfort, so "No Me Jodas" and "Mi Concha" stand as demands rather than invitations. What lingers is the insistence that luxury shouldn't be locked behind a paywall — and that a band this loud can make policy sound like a chorus.
